Haven’t found an equivalent pair of shoes for this price. They fit great, have nice Vibrum soles, and look good too. I often wear them for casual wear too.

This is my second pair of the Vasque Mantra. The first pair lasted a long time (not sure just how long) with quite a bit of use. I actually still use them, but they have become pretty ugly. The tops and are holding together well and the tread is wearing good. I mostly use them for light hiking on dirt trails, yard work, and bicycling. I mountain bicycle quite a bit and like the stiffer sole and how they fit into my toe clips. I’ve seen these advertised as a cross-trainer, and I can tell you that they in no way compares with a good pair of trail running shoes. (If you like Vasque products as I do, take a look at the Vasque Blur for trail running.) Nor would I want them for rugged hiking where you want more tread and ankle support. I have a wide foot and sometimes get a wide size if it’s availible. The Medium width on the Mantra fits fine, but is just a little tight until broken in.

I rated this a 4 star because it’s not quite a versitile cross training shoe. But it’s a darned good shoe that will last, fit well, and do great for light hiking, walking, and bicycling.
